Home » Pre-sales » Supported Languages and How to Translate WC Affiliate

WC Affiliate is translation-ready, allowing you to manage your affiliate program in the language that works best for your store, administrators, and affiliates.

This plugin includes translations for several popular languages. You can activate any supported language directly from your WordPress settings. You can also customize an existing translation or translate WC Affiliate into another language using Loco Translate.

Supported Languages #

WC Affiliate currently includes language files for the following languages:

Language Locale
English Default language
Bengali, Bangladesh bn_BD
German, Germany de_DE
Spanish, Spain es_ES
French, France fr_FR
Italian, Italy it_IT
Japanese ja
Dutch, Netherlands nl_NL
Portuguese, Brazil pt_BR
Russian, Russia ru_RU
Simplified Chinese zh_CN

These translations cover the main WC Affiliate interface, including the WordPress admin area and the affiliate-facing dashboard.

Note: The available language list may expand as new translations are added in future updates.

How to Change the WC Affiliate Language #

WC Affiliate automatically follows your WordPress site language. You do not need to configure the language separately inside WC Affiliate.

Step 1: Open the General Settings #

From your WordPress Dashboard, navigate to Settings → General

Step 2: Choose the Site Language #

Find the Site Language option and select one of the supported languages.

For example, select:

  • বাংলা for Bengali
  • Deutsch for German
  • Español for Spanish
  • Français for French
  • Italiano for Italian

Step 3: Save the Changes #

Scroll down and click Save Changes.

WC Affiliate will automatically load the matching translation. Refresh the WC Affiliate admin dashboard or affiliate dashboard to see the translated interface.

Important: The selected WordPress locale must match an available WC Affiliate translation. For example, WC Affiliate includes Spanish for Spain (es_ES), which may be different from other Spanish locales.

Translating WC Affiliate with Loco Translate #

Loco Translate is the recommended method for customizing WC Affiliate translations or adding a new language. It lets you manage translations directly from your WordPress dashboard without editing plugin files manually.

It is also recommended because WC Affiliate contains both PHP and JavaScript interface strings.

Step 1: Install Loco Translate #

  1. Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for Loco Translate.
  3. Click Install Now.
  4. Activate the plugin.

Step 2: Select WC Affiliate #

Navigate to: Loco Translate → Plugins → WC Affiliate. You will see the existing WC Affiliate language files.

Step 3: Edit an Existing Language #

To customize a supported language:

  1. Select the language you want to edit.
  2. Search for the text you want to change.
  3. Add or update the translation.
  4. Click Save.

The updated text should appear when your WordPress site uses the matching language.

Step 4: Add a New Language #

To translate WC Affiliate into a language that is not included:

  1. Click New language.
  2. Select your target WordPress language.
  3. Choose the Custom location.
  4. Click Start translating.
  5. Search for each source text and enter its translation.
  6. Click Save when finished.

Using the Custom location protects your translations from being removed when WC Affiliate is updated.

Avoid saving custom translations inside the WC Affiliate plugin directory. Plugin updates may replace files stored inside the plugin folder.

Updating Translations After a Plugin Update #

New WC Affiliate versions may introduce additional text strings.

After updating the plugin:

  1. Go to Loco Translate → Plugins → WC Affiliate.
  2. Open your language.
  3. Click Sync.
  4. Translate any newly added strings.
  5. Click Save.

This keeps your custom translation updated with the latest WC Affiliate version.
